The Standard Sentinel is suitable for the removal of a wide range of organic and inorganic aqueous pollutants including heavy metals. Its primary use and original conception was for the treatment of dilute pesticide waste. Its combination of optimised flocculation with activated carbon treatment is designed to handle a wide variety of contaminants and reduce them to very low concentration.
Independent trials show that substances up to a maximum concentration of 3% can be effectively removed from water by the standard pre-packaged treatment process to levels which are usually below the limits of detection. This includes many well known toxic contaminants such as pesticides or "Red List" industrial pollutants. Dangerous heavy metals such as Copper, Cadmium or Chromium may normally be removed to levels well below those permitted for discharge into public sewers. The resulting treated water may be re-used for purposes such as washing equipment, containers, plant or working areas. Alternatively it may be disposed of by soil surface irrigation or to the public sewer.

All plants can be designed to be as manual or automated as needed, with additional treatment requirements being assessed at the design stage. All of the Sentinel plants can be fitted with additional in-line pH treatment if desired and can be supplied with an automatic paper filter for 24 hour operation. WMEC also has comprehensive sludge handling expertise and can provide filter presses, sludge conditioning systems, centrifuges and cyclones.
The below chart illustrates the three main sizes of the Sentinel, its standard treatment capacities and subsequent operator hours required. As it can be clearly seen the Sentinel is suitable from small operations to significantly larger sites.
